Marshall Street ADU
This accessory unit is looking to be one of the cornerstone projects of turning the page on a new zoning law chapter in Watertown. Under current zoning laws, ADU’s are not permissible in any zoning district. As part of a larger property renovation project, the homeowner of this beautiful Tudor-gambrel style home wanted to propose an accessory structure to replace his old one. One that would provide a much greater range of function than the current structure: an old single story unfinished garage with an attached bathroom and outdoor storage.
The proposed structure was to blend in with the style of the existing house yet also bring touches of modern living with a strong connection to the existing landscaping of the tiered patio and gardens of the back yard.
This project is currently in the design phase. The design is being used by the owner to present to local authorities having jurisdiction as well as other involved organizations in hopes of passing new zoning law regulations to allow the construction of structures such as these.
